Your Role

POSITION TITLE:External Sales Representative – Valves (Maritime Industry)

POSITION REPORTING TO: General Manager

LOCATION: Durban / Cape Town

 

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

Responsible for maintaining and developing customer relationships by meeting with customers in person to identify their needs and close sales opportunities. This includes identifying prospective customers, following up on potential sales leads and maintaining relationships with existing customers.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THE ROLE

 

  1. Leadership and Strategy:
  • Recommend marketing strategies to target a specific region or demographic.
  • Thorough understanding of the maritime industry and industry trends.
  • Build and promote strong long lasting customer relationships by partnering with them and understanding their needs.
  • Demonstrated ability in meeting sales objectives.
  • Identify and establish contact with potential customers.
  • Maintain and expand customer database within the maritime industry.
  • Generate and submit sales reports to management.
  • Promote products and services, submit technical and commercial proposals, evaluate market prices.
  • Follow up on leads and maximise sales opportunities.
  • Conduct calls and face-to-face meetings with customers daily.
  • Continually meeting or exceeding sales targets by selling company products to new and existing customers.
  • Work closely with marketing department to help build the brand.
  • Coordinate with other members of the sales team and management to generate sales and provide excellent customer service.
  • Coordinate with the accounts receivable department to ensure that all invoices are paid in full in a timely manner by your customers.
  • You will be required to perform your duties as efficiently as possible, reducing costs when possible, and maintain receipts for all job-related expenses and submit them to accounting.
  • Adhere to all company procedures, values and policies so that you provide an accurate representation of the company to all potential and current customers.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

  • National Senior Certificate/ Matric
  • National Diploma – Mechanical Engineering will be advantageous.
  • National Diploma – Marketing will be advantageous.
  • Valid Driver’s Licence
  • Sales experience in maritime valves
  • Valve selections and applications
  • 3-5 years relevant experience
